Behind the Scenes

Uhai Lake Forum works for and with the residents of Lake Victoria Basin particularly those in Kenya to seek to empower them in order for them to chart their own destiny in socio-economic, political and cultural spheres. While ULF services may benefit everybody in the Lake Victoria Basin, its main target group includes resource user groups including women in stove making and pottery; young fishermen/boat people, quarry workers, tobacco farm workers, stone carvers, stove technicians, women fish traders and through community eco-cultural forums and water spring or river catchment area committees. Geographically, the target communities fall within the following counties: Busia, Nyamira, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, and Kericho(Sigowet-Soin). These specific sub-regions stand out as the main target areas: Asego Hills, Awendo Sugar Belt, Bora Beaches, Bunyula, Gucha, Homa Hills, Kit Mikayi, Kuja Unga, Kuria, Lambwe Valley, Migori, Nyamira, Nyando Plains, Rusinga and Mfangano Islands and Samia Hills.
